About the conference
Public Private Partnership Commission under the Ministry of Finance in partnership with Africa Public Private Partnerships Network, the World Association of Public Private Partnerships (WAPPP) and the PPP forum for Africa has organized a three-day High-Level International conference focusing on People First Principles in Support of UN-sustainable Development Goals.
PPP forum for Africa organized a High-Level Africa conference in Kampala with a Theme “Public Private Partnerships Africa’s Next Big Thing”. The event was organized after a realization that Africa is a huge continent with good natural resources however the continent agonizes with limited infrastructure. Infrastructure needs are estimated to be USD130 to USD170 Billion, and Government funds available for infrastructure is only between USD 68 to USD108 Billion per annum. The Africa Public Private Partnerships Network’s 2020 plan includes a High-Level Africa conference in Nigeria and country specific events in the following countries; Malawi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya and islands in the Indian Ocean (Comoros, Madagascar, Seychelles and Mauritius).
It is against this background that PPP forum for Africa in partnership with the gorvenment of Malawi, and the PPP commission Malawi has organised a high level country specific event.
The conference will run from the 24th to 26th February 2020 at the Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe.
The conference comes under the theme “Public Private Partnerships Malawi’s Next Big Thing” and will offer a unique platform to showcase Malawi’s PPP opportunities in key sectors such as Energy, Transport, Tourism and ICT.
The Conference will bring together PPP Practitioners and thought leaders across the globe into one room to think through solutions for infrastructure development in Malawi. The three-day event will be dedicated to discussing issues pertaining to revolutionizing infrastructure development in Malawi through PPP arrangements. The Conference will be structured as follows: the first day will involve pre-conference PPP training delivered by international PPP experts and the conference will follow on the remaining 2 days
